United Kingdom
The United Kingdom (UK) is a sovereign country located off the northwestern coast of mainland Europe. It is made up of four constituent Countries: England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
Geography: The UK is an island nation comprising the island of Great Britain (which includes England, Scotland, and Wales) and the northeastern part of the island of Ireland (Northern Ireland). It is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, the North Sea, the English Channel, and the Irish Sea.
Capital and Major Cities: London is the capital and largest city of the UK. Other major cities include Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Cardiff.
Government: The United Kingdom is a constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary democracy. The monarch, as of my last knowledge update in September 2021, was Queen Elizabeth II, with the Prime Minister serving as the head of government. The UK Parliament, located in Westminster, London, consists of the House of Commons and the House of Lords.
The British monarchy, with a ceremonial role, remains an important symbol of the UK's history and culture. The Queen and other members of the royal family are often part of state events and ceremonies.
